Universiti Malaysia Perlis ( UniMAP ) was established as an Institution of Higher Learning (IPTA) on 25 July 2001. The establishment of UniMAP aims to produce highly skilled and competent engineers to meet and support the National Industrial Plan.
Activities curriculum development, physical development and staff recruitment begins after the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor on 16 February 2002. UniMAP became operational at its temporary campus in Kubang Gajah, Arau, Perlis on May 2, 2011. The first intake of students for a total of 116 sessions 2002/2003 academic created on June 20, 2002.
UniMAP of teaching and learning in accordance with accreditation requirements EAC-BEM to produce engineers who are capable and able to apply the theoretical concepts. The academic program UniMAP is based around 80% of lessons in theory and 20% practical. The curriculum is designed so that it is equal to any of the recognized engineering program in the country and abroad.
The permanent campus UniMAP is in the constituency measuring 1050 acres and 300 acres Chuchuh River and is still in the development stage. However there are several departments and the School superbly fully operational in Pauh Putra Campus which is the Department of Libraries, School of Mechatronics Engineering, School of Microelectronic Engineering, School of Manufacturing Engineering, School of Computer & Communication, School of Electrical Systems Engineering and the Institute of Mathematics Engineering.
